OSRAM Nightlux night light review

It’s the middle of the night, you’re soundly asleep. You’ve left your bedroom door open, just in case one of the children wakes up with a bad dream.

Then boom. The ‘big light’ comes on. No screaming, no nightmares, just a child whose bladder is smaller in volume than the amount of warm milk they drank before climbing into bed.

They stumble about, only half awake. Find their way to the toilet, navigating the hallway by switching on every light they can find. You hear the click of the light-pull in the bathroom and you wince as you realise that fan will carry on going for the next 20 minutes. You hope they remember to lift the lid.

But let there be light (sorry). What if I told you there was a solution to this picture of sleeplessness and an antidote to your daily personal illuminations switch-on ceremony?

I stayed over at a friend’s house recently, and upon stumbling, myself, towards the bathroom in the depths of the night, I was greeted by an automatic, directional, low-level night light that came on as I approached it, and lit my path to relief.

The OSRAM Nightlux night light is a battery powered night light – with LEDs that can be directed up and down as required to give the desired height and spread of illumination. It has a magnetic back that allows it to connect to a metal disc that can be either screwed in position, or affixed via the 3M double sided tape that comes supplied with the unit. In my case I used a different 3M product – the stretch removable ‘3M Command poster strips’. This means that at a later date I can remove the metal disc from the wall leaving no trace of adhesive or ripped off emulsion.

I can’t recommend this  product enough. In fact, I’m now placing an order for a second one, so I have one in the hall and one in the bathroom itself (better for the little darlings to aim properly).
